Intellectual Property Enterprise Court (IPEC)
Richard Hacon is the Presiding Judge of the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court (‘IPEC’). He was formerly a barrister practising in intellectual property law at 11 South Square Chambers, Gray’s Inn, where he argued many cases in the English and European Union courts and in the European Patent Office. Following the creation of the IPEC on 1 October 2013, he was appointed its first Presiding Judge, sitting from 3 December 2013. He also sits in the Patents Court (another part of the High Court) and in general chancery cases in the High Court.
